Car Door Handlers.

Do you have any valuables in your car at night ? Sunglasses, navigation devices, medication, tools, sport equipment or a little loose change ? What happens when you forget to lock your car ?

Issue: There are thieves that walk up and down your street day & night trying car door handles, van doors and boot lids to see if they are unlocked. They operate because they constantly find cars and vans left open by human error.

Why do I need to worry ?

A thief will steal everything of value in your car! Money, sunglasses, satnavs, wallets, tools, sports equipment, indeed anything.
Do you even know what's in your car ?

If you found out a thief had been through your car, are you confident you'd know what's been taken ? Are there documents and papers with your name and address in your vehicle ?

Its easy to think that there is nothing of value in the car but why don't you check, remove all non-essential items and ensure retained items are locked away out of sight.

What should I do everyday ?

  1. Lock you car! - sounds easy but you MUST double check each time you park up. Remember if everyone locked their car every time, these thieves would not operate!
  2. Don't keep valuables in the car - if you don't want to lose it, don't keep it in the car.
  3. Ensure Mirrors are Folded -  Check your vehicle is locked using the folding mirrors - open mirrors will give away that the car is unlocked!
  4. Ensure Keyless Entry doesn't Unlock your Car - if you park on a private drive near your house, keep your keyfobs away from your car or it will unlock.

What precautions can I buy ?

  1. Reminder - place a SIGN on your front door to remind you to check your car is locked!
  2. Secure your Keyless Entry keyfob - Buy metal tins or faraday bags to store your keyfobs to prevent accidental unlocking.
  3. Proximity Detection Alarms - Upgrade your vehicle alarm with a third party solution with proximity detection. Your car will beep and warn off anyone close by.
  4. CCTV & PIR - Install video doorbell or motion detection flood lights monitoring your driveway (eg. Ring, Eufy or Nest). These can warn you in real-time if a car door handler attempts theft  from your vehicle.
